Step Away from Your To-Do List – Slow Down and Tune In
If we’re being honest with ourselves, we mothers know that we will never get to the bottom of our ‘to do’ list, so why do we keep putting our needs way down there? Here is a little reminder to slow down and tune in. To reconnect with your needs, and the needs of those you love. It doesn’t have to be complicated or feel like more work – in fact, this will actually GIVE you energy and make you more productive and happier in the long run!
How often do you take the time to slow down and tune in? What are your favourite ways to reconnect – both with yourself, and with your family?
I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments – you never know, you might inspire someone else to show themselves some self-love too! If you found the ideas useful I would be honoured if you shared it with your network.
This video was originally recorded as a Facbook Live.
If you would like to book a call to find out how I can help you to reconnect with the things that are most important to you so that you can create a life you truly love, you can book a Clarity Call here.
You can also download a copy of my meditation below, which is a lovely way to start the process of reconnection.

– – Hello, my lovely friends. It’s Dr. Sally Graddon, the Life Balance Doctor, here.
I wanted to hop on really quickly and just give you a little reminder to slow down and tune in. My day has been really busy. It’s a day when I don’t work, but I do, well I look after the children instead so, it’s so easy to get so stuck into those mundane tasks those, the washing, the cleaning, the tidying, the clearing up all those tiny, tiny little fragments of paper that they’ve been cutting up – those ones. Which I feel like I’ve done many times today. But I wanted to remind you because I needed the reminder myself, to drop in, to step back and really remember what’s important. And remember to reconnect with yourself and with your children.
It’s so easy to flip from one thing to the next and we all know that we have – as mothers – a never ending list of tasks to do. And by slowing down we can we can get back to the really important stuff. Because our to-do list will never, ever be finished, ever. Never ever, ever, ever. As much as we want it to, it will never be done. So at some point you have to make the choice to step away from it. To step away from that long list of really, well the things that feel really important, the things that feel like you have to get them done right now otherwise everything’s gonna go to hell in a hay basket or whatever the phrase is (I think I made that one up!).
But what I’m trying to say is that those tasks yes, they’re important, but at some point you need to step back and give yourself permission to be present. To tune back in and to do the fun stuff. And to look after yourself as well. And to do the self-care. Stuff that is so easy to forget about and to put to one side and put down the very bottom of the to-do list, and as I just said the to-do list never gets done, which means the self-care never gets done.
So, take five minutes to moisturise your hands, sit down with a hot cup of tea and actually drink it. Take five minutes to sit on the floor with your little one and play trains, or snuggle up on the sofa and read a book. Whatever it is that fulfils your needs and the needs of your child. But don’t always put the needs of your child before yourself either. So make sure that somewhere there is time for you.
Love yourself and the whole family will benefit. Trust me.
Anyway, lots and lots of love to you all. And I’m gonna take my own advice, and go tune in to my little family.
Take care. See you soon.
Bye bye.

Am feeling abundant and sad at the same time with Dr. Sally: Firstly, abundant that she has chosen to be a “stay at home Mom” and start up her business to be there for so many Mom’s ready for what she has to offer to “reclaim” balance in their busy lives. As a Registered Nurse, am sad that the Medical field is missing out on a wonderful, caring, intuitive Professional. She has her Medical experience as well as a “mom” of three children to share life’s experiences to help others regain balance to enjoy life. I am super excited on what she has to offer us as she shares her experiences.
Ah Irene, thank you so much <3
